T
he KFO and IFPO are continuing to assist in the search for the two missing crew of Recuse 116 operator Paul Ormsby and winchman Ciarán Smith and will be embarking on a coordinated search of Donegal Bay starting from Black Rock light house at first light Saturday morning.

The KFO and IFPO said:

“We are continuing to assist with the search for the missing crew of R 116 and we will embark on a coordinated search using a number of large RSW vessels and other vessels leaving Killybegs on Friday afternoon to be in a position to start the search from Black Rock light house at first light Saturday morning.  The intention is to search northwards from Black Rock covering Donegal Bay and further north. This search has been discussed with the Coast Guard and they are very appreciative of our support, advice and continued assistance. In addition to this co-ordinated search we are asking all fishing vessels operating in the area to keep a close eye out for any debris from the helicopter”.

They added: “We fully understand that a large number of vessels want to get involved in the search but we would ask that vessels do not risk going to sea in small vessels when the weather conditions are unsuitable. Safety at sea is of paramount importance and we do not want further tragedies.”
